ABUJA— CHIEF Executive Officers of Practitioners’ Regulatory Agencies in Nigeria, weekend, teamed up to give a bite to enforcement of standard and safety, oversee the use of public goods and regulate commerce, with a view to bringing sanity into the society.

The Practitioners’ Regulatory Agencies Forum, PRAF, also is to look into the problem of overlapping functions to avoid unnecessary rivalry among regulators.

Registrar of the Council for the Regulation of Freight Forwarding in Nigeria, CRFFN, Sir Mike Jukwe, who is the convener of their first inaugural meeting in Abuja, said they had things in common, adding that the forum was to evolve strategies to solve common problem by maximising limited resources to get a great result.

He said:  “The existence of independent regulatory agencies is justified by the complexity of certain regulatory and supervisory tasks that require expertise, the need for rapid implementation

Okoh charged people to check themselves if they did not have hands in the menace of terrorism ravaging the country, adding that Nigerians were tired of being in a cage of barricade by security agents.

He said it was difficulty for the country to subdue the Islamic sect as people  had given their loyalty to materials, religion and ethnicity, noting that the country was sitting on gun powder and people should summon courage to confront the perpetrators. of public authority in certain sectors, and the drawbacks of political interference.

“If our functions are similar, our challenges are too and it is for this reason that I believe we can come together to share knowledge and experience, come up with common strategies and pull resources to confront the challenges and deliver on our mandates.”

Other chief executives in their separate contributions, noted that PRAF would not be another independent agency of government backed by law but a forum to measure their areas of strength and identify the areas of overlapping function to address it for better service delivery.
