PORT HARCOURT—MANAGING Director, Niger Delta Development Commission, NDDC, Dr. Chris Oboh, has assured that his administration will complete 57 mega projects this fiscal year.

Addressing newsmen in Port Harcourt, Rivers State, yesterday, Oboh said the new board resolved to award few contracts because it had many existing projects it inherited from previous the administration.

He said the Commission had already committed about N1.3 trillion to projects in the region and that the 57 projects were in the 2012 budget.

Oboh said the Bureau for Public Procurement, BPP, granted waivers to the commission’s contractors to complete the 57 big projects.

He denied allegation that the commission plans to spend close to N200 billion on emergency repairs, adding that the new board had about 30 percent for fresh contracts in the 2012 budget.
