Mission to Save Sight Africa Foundation (MMTSSAF), an NGO working in line with the goals and objective of Vision 2020, the right to sight initiative of the World Health Organisation and International Agency for the Prevention of Blindness, is set to further its advocacy on prevention of blindness in Nigeria, with the release a  movie entitled ‘’Avoidable Blunder’’.

According to the Founder, Dr.  Oluwafunmike Ani,the movie is to remove ignorance, promote, educate and inform Nigerians about blindness as well as encourage industry, creativity and research activities with focus on certain major causes of avoidable blindness and visual impairments such as cataract, glaucoma, childhood blindness, trachoma, onchocerchiasis and refractive errors.

Ani said the “must watch” movie to be released in three monthswould be shot and premiered across Africa for corrective information because blindness as a health issue, has been with humanity as far back as time, but since it is often not a direct cause of death, generations have down played its significance hence it has been successfully pushed to the background of disease control  for so long.

She appealed to corporate organisations to take advantage of the movie as a unique opportunity to ‘’brand themselves with the wonderful project that will expose the careless ways we treat our eyes with its consequences and solutions that will help Africans.

Director of the movie ,  Mr. Okechukwu Ifeanyi, said the project will feature actors from Nigeria, South Africa, Liberia and other parts of Africa.
