Traditional rulers across the country have thrown their weights behind President Goodluck Jonathan on the establishment of Almajiri schools. This came as the Federal Government approved four of such schools for Kaduna State.

Emir of Zazzau, Dr. Shehu Idris, spoke for his colleagues when the Minister of State for Education, Mr. Nyesom Wike, paid him a courtesy call at his palace in Zaria, yesterday.

The Emir said all the traditional rulers were quite happy with the President for paying good attention to education and for finding enduring solution to the Almajiri syndrome.

He said:  “I am glad that all the traditional rulers in Nigeria are happy with Mr. President’s transformation agenda and we urge you (minister) to convey our appreciation to Mr President.

”The menace of Almajiri was a problem to royal fathers of this country but this administration has helped to find an enduring solution to the problem.

“We will mobilise all our people to support the idea of Mr. President whose idea is to match Almajiri education to western education so that they will be able to do something meaningful with their lives rather than roam the streets causing problems.”

Responding, Wike told the Emir that he was in Zaria to inspect the construction projects of four Almajiri schools.
He thanked the Emir for providing the Federal Government with vast land for the project.
