BNIN—THE crisis rocking Labour Party in Edo State, worsened, yesterday, as some leaders of the party described as fraudulent, the manner in which Elder Sam Omede emerged as state chairman of the party.

They alleged that the congress was manipulated by the national leadership of the party by disenfranchising majority of members, who aspired for the position with a view to ensuring Omede’s emergence.

But Omede described the allegation as untrue, insisting that the exercise was conducted in accordance with the constitution of the party and that the people complaining were members, who did not want the party to make progress in the state.

The party’s leaders, Mr Tony Erha and David Omondiale, the chairman of Esan South-East Local Government Area of the party, alleged that “majority of the deprived party faithful, are sufficiently aware that some of the characters foisted on us in the said LP state executive council are impostors who do not believe in the party.”
