FG reassures investors of enabling environment

The Federal Government has reassured foreign investors who may be willing to invest in the nation’s economy to be sure of an enabling environment for their investment.

President Goodluck Jonathan made this known when he commissioned the first Nigerian wholly-built offshore platforms Abang and Itut at the Nigerdock yard on Snake Island, Lagos recently.

According to the President the platforms, Abang and Itut constructed by Nigerdock are the first fully integrated decks to fabricated, pre-commissioned and tested in Nigeria’s history.

The Nigeria National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC)/Mobil Producing Nigeria (MPN) Satellite Field Development Project Platform (Abang and Itut) comprises of two offshore Wellhead Platforms completed with Jackets, Piles, Boat, Landing platforms and subsea templates.

An elated President Jonathan said that the commissioning is a testimony of the country’s success in the implementation of the local content Act adding that the NNPC/MPN satellite development project platform will expand job opportunities in the country.

His words “The commissioning of the two oil platforms has further re-energized the country’s interest in local content which will boost employment opportunities in the country.

“We want to reassure investors that the Federal government will provide the enabling environment for investment opportunities to strive in the country.”

Speaking at the event, the Governor of Lagos State, Babatunde Fashola noted that legislation and policy have produced the desired result in term of local content in Nigeria and Lagos state.

“I want to say that Lagos state will create the enabling environment that will make investment opportunities to strive in the state. “We will give the drivers and captains of the oil and gas industry support to drive the economy and to unleash the potentials of the black race” he said.

Fashola commended various government agencies that have given support to various investors in the economic sphere of the country adding that more jobs needs to done like construction of more roads and other basic infrastructure that will attract more investors.

Minister of Petroleum and Natural Resources Mrs. Diezeni Alison Madueke expressed appreciation to President Jonathan for signing the Nigerian Content development Act into law in 2010.
