Jos—Member representing Jos North/Bassa Constituency in the House of Representatives, Mr. Suleiman Kwande, has joined in condemning last Sunday’s bomb attack on COCIN Church, Jos, describing it as the handiwork of enemies of peace.

In a statement, he said the incident was a setback to efforts being made to restore lasting peace to the state which he said was already yielding results.

Kwande said: “In the recent days, weeks and months, the people of Jos and Plateau State have been enjoying relative calm and peace with the people rebuilding confidence, trust and peaceful relationships across religious and ethnic divide, trying to put behind them the ugly happenings of the past.

“I condemn the unwarranted wanton destruction of sacred lives of the innocent while commiserating with the families of those whose lives were terminated and praying for the speedy recuperation of those injured”, the statement said.

Meanwhile, Governor Jonah Jang has urged the National Assembly to revisit the issue of state police in the face of security challenges facing the country.

He said while receiving National Assembly members from the state who visited him to commiserate over the bomb attack that contrary to arguments from some quarters, Nigeria was ripe for state police. He urged the federal legislatures to make the restructure of the security arrangement in the country a priority when considering any amendment to the constitution.
