AKURE – The Ondo State Governor, Dr Olusegun Mimiko has been described as the reincarnate of the late sage, Chief Obafemi Awolowo, an avowed progressive whose footprints are still very visible on earth, decades after his death

A social-cultural group, Ondo United Front, OUF, in a statement  issued in Akure, yesterday, said, with the innovations  Governor Mimiko brought  to to bear on governance in the state, it has been demonstrated that progressives in reality are still available in the country and can only be identified by their performance.

According to the group; “Mimiko has been able to demonstrate that there are true progressives in the country. Progressives who are selfless like Chief Awolowo and with what he has been able to achieve as governor of Ondo State in just three years ,its obvious that all hope are not lost regarding good governance and selfless service  in the country.”

“We have taken time to study the style of governance of Dr Olusegun Mimiko  and his enduring programmes and we have come to the conclusion that the governor is another Obafemi Awolowo who will leave no stone unturned to  ensure that  the masses are not left to their fate.

“Governor Mimiko has been able to effectively demonstrate  that there is hope  still for the masses and that good  and selfless people can still be found in the nation’s  mucky political  terrain” the statement said.

Describing Mimiko as an all-round success as an administrator, the group mentioned that the tremendous improvement the government has been able to bring  into the the state’s infrastructure is unprecedented in the history of the state adding that only a true progressive can make tsuch happen.

Specifically, the group mentioned the Mimiko’s government initiatives like the Abiye programme, Megga schools , provision of employment through Agriculture, urban renewal programmes and its  Community development  programmes as only synonymous with progressives adding that there is no state in the country that has the record of the Ondo state government as fas as Masses oriented  programmes are concerned.

“So far , it has been confirmed that Mimiko is far ahead in the country at large and the Southwest in particular in the area of  masses oriented programmes among  state administrators in the country.  It is obvious that the governor is out to give hope to the hopeless, and this he has done in the manner Chief Obafemi  Awolowo did it.

The group affirmed that “From the days of Baba Awolowo. What is known as Ondo State today has always been the backbone of progressivism as exemplified by Baba Ajasin. The people of Ondo State are knowledgeable enough in progressivism and would easily separate progressivism from a ravaging band of neo-colonialists who are only interested in expanding their looting nests.”

The group appealed to Governor Mimiko to shun any form of distraction and continue with “the good work you are doing because it is not a child’s play to be awarded the best performing governor in a competitive and complex nation like Nigeria where people are not always quick to give kudos to the deserving”

In the statement which was signed by the group’s publicity secretary, Alhaji Mubarak Ayileka, Mimiko was urged to ensure he does not waiver “because you have sown enough seed to earn you a second term in office and  its a matter of time before you are sworn –in to complete the good Samaritan role you have been chosen by God to play in the lives of the people of Ondo State”
