Fuel? Kerosene? Mystery as fire burns wife to death

By ANOZIE EGOLE

If only Sunday Eleh, a 50 year old father of six had the premonition that his lovely wife, Augustina Eleh was going to die, he would have stayed in darkness to avert the death..

The Orsu Local Government Area of Imo State born commercial driver described the incidence as unprecedented . The incidence happened on the 28th day of December at about 8:00pm, throwing the family into mourning mood and financial crisis as the money that was meant for the childbirth’s school fees will now be used for burial which also will be not be enough for the burial expenses.

Narrating with tears and sorrows the ordeal to Saturday Vanguard, Eleh said it was a very horrible experience to see his loved one ablaze. He said in evening, the family used to get kerosine for the lantern for the night. His wife left to their neighbour to get the kerosine.

Little did she know that the kerosene would kill her in just three days. His wife went to the place were they normally bought kerosene since going to the filling station would waste their time.

After buying the kerosene, she came home and was filling the kerosene in their lamp for them to sleep with. As she was filling the lamp, fire just came up from nowhere and started burning her wife. Before the family knew what was happening, his wife was like a wild bush. But he still gave thanks to God Almighty that he was around that day to save the woman from burning to ashes that day though she later died after two days.

As a devoted member of Orthodox church, she was one of the members of the executive officers and they had their meeting on planning for their annual harvest and bazaar with she attended before the accident happened in the evening of the same day. She was also going to be ordained a prophetess on Sunday that same week but instead of going for the ordination, she was taken to mortuary.

In his curiosity to find out what haappened, Sunday went with some members of the family to the place where his wife purchased. The investigations proved that it was kerosene. So  caused the fire?. On getting to the seller who they popularly call Okorienta, he said that he sells kerosene not fuel and that they were not the only people that came to purchase that same commodity that time.

Okorienta said, “I sell kerosine not fuel, I do not mixed kerosine with fuel and you are not the only people that bought kerosine from me last night, so check where the problem is because I know it’s not from here” he lamented.

Still not convinced, Sunday went further to pour the remaining quantity of the kerosine and put fire on it but it did not burn like  fuel. With all these, Sunday now concluded that the accident was a spiritual attack masterminded by the enemies of the family just to disrupt the lovely family. In his words he said “I  believe this thing was sent by my enemies who do not want the progress of my family”

Speaking with the first son of the deceased  Onyekachi who plies his business in Kaduna but back due to Boko Haram is saddened by the incident.
