Below are eye witness accounts and latest developments as reported by citizens in various parts of the country on the ongoing strike/protest against removal of fuel subsidy by the federal government by the Labour and civil society groups. Excerpts:

Emeka Okafor- Police have take over Port-harcourt to prevent people from protestesting

Momohjimoh Muhammed kabiru- Infact everything is quite ok here in Amilebe area of ilorin kwara state,no vehiclar movement,the protest is peaceful

bolakalebolakale saliu -Protest in ilorin has been peaceful but d labour leaders have began turning back as the govt have directed them to justify d money collected from d govt. The protesters are about reaching the govt house when the labour leaders n LASCO started pleading for people to turn back. Comr. Bolakale

People are going about their normal businesses in Anambra State, though schools which are suppose to reopen today remained closed. Workers are about holding rally at Awka the state capital. Vehicles are moving. The entire State is calm. Amaechi Tony

muyideenabimbolamuyideenabimbola – The whole business activity is paralysed. All the business ventures are closed. Vehicular movement is restricted. Virtually all roads were blocked and burn-fire is made on the road. The Police and Civil defence personnel are on ground to prevent wanting destruction of govt properties.

MuhammadMuhammad Makintami – There’s no movement in major streets of Maiduguri and also no protest due to the security situation in the state…

salehusman96salehusman96 – Soldiers of the 177 battalion at the venue of Nasarawa protest. The army wanted to disperse the protesters.

BrightBright Jb – The situation here in Ekpoma is calm,although the fear of the soldiers posted here to forestall breakdown of peace and the incessant arm robbery attacks on banks made things this way. this is also coupled with the fact that the students of AAU not on session. In the whole, the area is calm though nothing like working activities in the banking and other major sectors here

Protest in Ado, though now scanty but it’s piling up and little by little becoming serious. No movement of cars and I suspect people are moving towards Govt road. Lexxyrule
