AKURE – THE Labour Party in Ondo State may have commenced the recall of the Senator representing Ondo North, Senator Ajayi Boroffice, who dumped the party for the Action Congress of Nigeria ACN.

Indications to this emerged over the weekend when the governor, Dr. Olusegun Mimiko said at a rally in Ikare, in Akoko North East Local Government that the party would use all legitimate means to retrieve its mandate taken to ACN by the lawmaker.

But reacting to the defection of Boroffice and the call by the state lawmakers, the ACN through its Director of Research and Publicity, Mr. Gbenga Akinmoyo said the Senator cannot be recalled as there is a faction within the ruling LP, which had produced two rival chairmen.

Akinmoyo said: “The 1999 Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, as amended, sets the procedure for the recall of a serving senator, but they probably had not considered it when they made their calls to the Senate President to declare the seat vacant.

The governor said this while receiving chieftains of the PDP and ACN in Akoko area and Akure, into the LP.

Dr. Mimiko said the defection of Boroffice breached the law and constitution saying the LP and state government would not allow such illegality to be swept under the carpet.

Among the defectors from  Ikare-Akoko are Chief Lawrence Adubiaro, PDP; Alhaji Musa Megida, PDP; Prince Ilesanmi Ikusanu, PDP; Mr. Isaac Olorunda, PDP; Mr. Ilesanmi Badmus, ACN, and Mr. Ogbohunekun Adeleke, PDP, among others.
