BENIN—POLITICAL tempo shot up in Edo State weekend, as the leadership of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, directed those aspiring to unseat Governor Adams Oshiomhole in the July 14, governorship election in the state to pick their governorship forms this week.

Meanwhile, Governor Adams Oshiomhole of the state, who is expected to be the candidate of the Action Congress of Nigeria, ACN, in the forthcoming election, held marathon meetings with the leadership of the party in the three senatorial districts weekend, urging them to prepare for the battle ahead.

Some of the PDP aspirants who informed Vanguard of their desire to pick the N5.5million governorship form this week include Mr Ken Imasuagbon, Prof. Julius Ihonvbere, Prof Oserheimen Osunbor, Gen. Charles Airhiavbere, Mr Jacob Idinye and Mathew Iduoriyekenwen.

Vanguard learnt that the aspirants are expected to submit the forms between February 1 and 5 and face screening in Port Harcourt.
