Aba (Abia)- Felix Anyasi-Agwu, the Chairman of Enyimba FC of Aba, has expressed disappointment with its performance in the 2-0 defeat of Sharks FC of Port Harcourt in a premier league match on Sunday in Aba, Abia.

Anyansi-Agwu said shortly after the match in the Aba Township Stadium that the players lacked commitment in the second half after scoring the two goals in the first half.

“They missed many begging chances in the second half and were casual in their approach as if they were not hungry for goals any longer. Our opponent had a better game in the second half than us,’’ he said.

In spite of his displeasure, the chairman commended the effort of Coach Maikaba Abdu, satubg he had performed creditably.

Anyansi-Agwu said the club’s management was still rebuilding the team, after its poor performance last season in its local and continental engagements; and commended Sharks for the performance they put up in the second half of the match.team.

Meanwhile Sharks’ Coach, John Obuh, blamed his players for losing concentration in the first half by conceding the two goals which they struggled in vain to reverse in the second half.

“I am not happy with the way the boys played in the first half; you can see we played better in the second half.

“The poor show today is a temporary setback to our aspirations for the season  but expect better performance from the boys in subsequent matches,’’ he said.

Obuh said he did not believe in having big names in the team, but believed in building new players to give the club good results.

One of the players of Sharks, Victor Ezeji, said the team did not hit its stride the way it should have done until the second half after it had conceded two goals in the first half.

“The early goals we conceded unsettled the team and before we could recover it was late,’’ he said.

Enyimba’s Coach, Abdu Maikaba, however, expressed satisfaction with his players but said they needed to blend together as the league progressed.

“I am impressed with their performance. I told them to get me early goals and they did just that,’’ he said.

The 2011/2012 season resumed over the weekend in the various venues following an enforced postponement brought about by the nationwide strike over the removal of petrol subsidy.
