AKURE—LEADER of the Pan-Yoruba socio-political organisation, Afenifere, Chief Reubn Fasoranti described the action of government to remove oil subsidy as “disastrous and a not too good new year present.”

Chief Fasoranti, who spoke with Vanguard in Akure yesterday, said “this would have chain reaction that government would not be able to cope with.”

According to him, the over 100 per cent increment in fuel pump price was not fair and would affect all facets of lives.

The leader of the group pointed out that the Federal Government should have “carried out the removal gradually rather than removing it at once which would impoverish the ordinary man the more.”

He also added that “we have asked the Federal Government to bring to book all those that benefitted in the past subsidy at least their names were published. This is a trying time for an ordinary man in this country. It is not a good new year present from President Goodluck Jonathan to Nigerians.”
