Zambian Team celebrating after scoring
By Nnamdi Ojiego
Today is the fourth day of the 2012 edition of African Cup of Nations, AFCON, holding in Gabon and Equatorial Guinea. And Ghana is about to take on Botswana.
Not many people give Botswana a chance in this game. Everybody seems to tilt toward Ghana. This is not unconnected with their current form and quality of players in the Ghanian squad.
However, based on the outcome of matches played so far, it is now obvious that there is no ‘small teams or underdogs in African football.
Will what happened between Zambia and Senegal repeat itself in the game between Ghana and Botswana? Will Botswana prove that they are no longer a ‘small team’?
Anyway, some still go with the cliché that anything can happen in the game of soccer.
As you keep a date with us for daily updates and analysis of the AFCON, feel free to share your experiences, expectations, surprises and disappointments of the tournament .. ., as we expect more surprises!!!
