In a renewed vigour to stem capital flight from Nigeria through film-making and advertisement recordings abroad, Solution Media and Infotech, said it has invested over N500 million in modern equipment to enhance the potential of the industry.

The equipment which it brought into the country include expensive Phantom flex digital camera which the company said is the only camera in Africa. Other facilities include the F35 camera, digital prints, mobile smart stage T180, Grand Stand Bravo Pro 122 and tent city.

It is believed that the cost of  production of advertisements alone abroad, especially in the United Kingdom (UK) and recently in South Africa by various Nigerian companies, is in the region of N15 billion annually.

Excuse for this development has often been attributed to lack of proper equipment to shoot films or advertisement and edit them in the country but Yanju Lipede, Managing Director, Solution Media said his firm is determined to reverse the trend and save the country loss of jobs and capital flight associated with shooting advertisement abroad.

“For every commercial job done abroad, some Nigerians have lost their jobs and the implication is that the whole system is dying gradually and this creates social problem. So whatever the brands are looking for elsewhere is now here,” Lipede said while briefing newsmen on the new equipment.

Lipede who said that the equipment are 22nd Century facilities in the 21st Century explained that another motivation in the investment was to meet the needs of corporate brands in Nigeria whose appetite to deploy modern equipment in shooting their advertisement is increasing by the day.

The firm also has equipment that can change the colour of  any cloth button without affecting the cloth and equipment that can record accurate sound of objects.

According to him, the firm with its technical partners in Germany has trained its staff on the usage of the cameras, and “what we are trying to do is to  bring  entertainment in film production, or in commercial activity high in this country.

“Ours is a total package  in the media. We are not an agency but a support service to agencies and being able to take the product from corporate clients to customers and leaving them with the memory that will linger for ever in a manner that it has never happened before in Africa.”

He said Solution Media has four departments and each department has the best technologies available in the world.

Following the quality of the equipment the firm has, Lipede said the firm hopes to go into television broadcasting later if it gets the licence.
