SIEMENS Energy, a major player in the energy sector of Nigeria has powered the Les Mées solar farm in the department of Alpes-de-Haute-Provence in the southern province of France.
Vice President of the Photo-voltaic Business Unit of the Siemens Solar & Hydro Division said the Les Mées project is a demonstration for success and on schedule implementation of complete photovoltaic plants.
The power plant for which Siemens will handle maintenance will generate a combined peak output of 31 megawatts (MWp) was Developed by Eco Delta Development (EDD), a subsidiary of Delta Solar.
The Les Mées solar farm, which is located at an elevation of 800 meters above sea level on the La Colle des Mées plateau, comprises a total of 112,000 solar modules covering an area of 70 hectares will supply approximately 12,000 French households with clean electricity.
Components and solutions for photovoltaic power plants are part of Siemens’ Environmental Portfolio which generate about EUR28 billion revenue in 2010, making Siemens the world’s largest supplier of eco-friendly technologies.
