THE Action Congress of Nigeria, ACN is alleging plans by its main contender, the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP to force its way to victory by removing its candidate, Prince Abubakar Audu from circulation within hours to the election.
The plan to arrest Audu just before polling according the top media aide of the ACN gubernatorial flag bearer, Sani Onogu, is part of a conspiracy that would involve the inducement of some ACN members.
“It has come to the knowledge of AC N Kogi Chapter that the PDP is inducing some members of ACN to accompany them to Abuja to sign and attach their membership cards to an affidavit to which they will file a court process or petition to indict Prince Abubakar Audu on yet to be discussed charges,” Audu’s aide deposed.
Attempts made by Vanguard Reporters in Lokoja to verify this claim from the PDP angle failed as Media Aides of Governor Idris Ibrahim failed as they deliberately refused to talk to the media.
Rumour of Idris Ibrahim’s removal from office jolts Lokoja
Lokoja, the Kogi State capital was on Tuesday enveloped with the rumour that the Supreme Court hearing the tenure elongation suit had that day ordered the immediate removal of outgoing Governor Idris Abubakar.
Many ACN supporters were seen jubilating on the premise that the removal of the man popularly known as Ibro would pave the way for victory for them in the weekend election. Their celebration was, however, cut short later that evening when the NTA network news failed to make mention of the issue.
The ACN celebrants were shockingly unaware of the fact that whatever happens to Governor Idris would do little to remove the PDP machinery as the Acting Governor would be the Speaker of the House of Assembly who is also a member of the PDP.
