Keshi spots 3 U-23 for Super Eagles

By Tony Ubani in Morocco
When Super Eagles coach, Stephen Okechukwu Keshi returns to begin his process of bringing back the glory days of the Eagles, three players from the Eguavoen-led disastrous Olympic team would be invited to the team.

Keshi was Morocco to assess the players but stayed away from the bench in order not to be accused of taking over the team or distracting the technical crew who were wary of him, anyway.

In the matches that Nigeria played, the big boss stayed with the Journalists but gave his inputs to Eguavoen. After the bubble burst for the team, Keshi confirmed that only three players can join the Eagles but refused to give out their names. But Sports Vanguard can authoritatively reveal that three-goal hero against Algeria Lawal Raheem Adewole, Enyimba’s Emmanuel Anyanwu and Kingsley Udoh are the lucky players.

These players, no doubt, distinguished themselves from the floppy pack of the team. Kinglsey Udoh is unattached currently sustained a 2nd minute injury in the match against Morroco and his absence in the defence spelt doom for Eguavoen and his boys.

He did come back in the last triumphant match against Algeria and brought sanity to the defence and even joined in attack. He excelled but did not complete game as the injections he took waned and he was substituted.

Emmanuel Anyanwu like his name suggests shone brighter in the all the games but lacked players to complement his efforts. Lawal Adewole shot himself into reckoning with his deft touches, positioning and the bullets that he fired that placed him in the running for one of the highest goal-poachers in the qualifier.

Keshi informed that he would set up a national team composed mainly of home-based players who would be engaged in series of matches before complementing them with some professionals.

“Talents abound in Nigeria and we are going to go into the league and fish them out. We were all spotted while playing at home before we went to play professional”, Keshi added.
