First Lady extols Ojukwu’s virtues

ENUGU – WIFE of the President, Dame Patience Jonathan, yesterday, eulogised the late Dim Chukwuemeka Odumegwu-Ojukwu, saying he would be greatly missed by Ndigbo and all Nigerians.
She said Ojukwu’s moral and political capabilities were a source of inspiration to Ndigbo and the people of the country as a whole and prayed God to provide a replacement for Ojukwu in Igboland.

Dame Jonathan, who was in Enugu to pay a condolence visit on the family of the late Biafran leader, amidst tight security, described Ojukwu as “a gallant soldier and political icon.”

”Ezeigbo Gburugburu, your courage, fortitude and vision are worthy of emulation. You made your mark as a well-calculated soldier and it is commendable that you were willing to share your knowledge and ideas.

”You served your community and indeed, Nigeria very well. Adieu, Ikemba Nnewi. May your soul rest in peace,” Dame Jonathan remarked in the condolence register.

She was accompanied on the visit by Secretary to the Government of the Federation, Senator Anyim Pius Anyim; Deputy Senate President, Chief Ike Ekweremadu; Governors Peter Obi and Sullivan Chime of Anambra and  Enugu states and National Vice- Chairman, PDP South East Zone, Chief Olisa Metuh.

Others are Minister of Health, Professor Onyebuchi Chukwu; Labour Minister, Chief Emeka Wogu; Minister of State, Foreign Affairs, Prof Viola Onwuliri; Senator Ayogu Eze, Senator Andy Uba and Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives, Emeka Ihedioha, among others.

They were received by Ojukwu’s widow, Bianca and Chukwuemeka Ojukwu jnr at Ikemba Nnewi’s Casabianca Villa in GRA, Enugu.
