MANAGING Director of Environ-Green, Mr. Olusanmi Abejide has disclosed that his firm has introduced a Totally Degradable Plastic Additives, TDPA, to solve the problem of plastic waste in Nigeria.

He also lamented that plastic waste was causing havoc to the environment, just as he called on Nigerians to support efforts towards achieving a greener environment.

Abejide  disclosed this in Lagos at a one-day seminar convened in conjunction with Lagos State Ministry of Environment, on  Biodegradable Plastics: Towards a Greener and Sustainable Environment.

He noted that the product has been subjected to environmental test by the ministry and found to be effective in disintegration of poly-mer molecules of plastic.

He said: “The technology enables products made from polythene, polypropolyne and polystyrene like sachet water, plastic bottles, nylon bags and so on, to degrade and in most cases biodegrade when they litter the environment.”
