Governor Adams Oshiomhole of Edo State has said his government will partner the Federal Government to fight against trafficking in persons and child labour.
Comrade Oshiomhole spoke when he granted audience to the Minister of State, Foreign Affairs, Dr. Nurudeen Mohammed at Government House, Benin City.
According to the Governor, “I think your initiative is what every government should support as you spread your message across the length and breadth of the country. It is part of the vicious cycle which many third world countries are facing. Because of economic crisis, young ones who watch movies think the world out there is perfect.
“And there are also unscrupulous ones amongst us who take advantage of the naivety of the innocent people to make money and they end up in conditions that are worse than the ones they are coming from.”
Comrade Oshiomhole reiterated the need for Nigerians to support President Goodluck Jonathan in his transformation programme, saying “President Jonathan needs our support across party lines, because the challenges of reforming and of repositioning the country is enormous taking into account the years of decay and the level of economic crisis. He needs not only our prayers, but our practical support for him to take very difficult, tough, but obviously very necessary decisions for Nigeria to move on.”
