Asaba – DELTA State governor, Dr. Emmanuel Uduaghan, yesterday presented his 2012 budget proposal of N383. 39 billion to the State House of Assembly for consideration and promised to apply “stricter control over expenditure.”
Christened, Budget for sustainable development, the amount is made up of N169.82 billion or 44.30 percent for recurrent and N213.57 billion or 52.31 percent for capital expenditures.
A breakdown of the figure shows that 2012 budget is higher than the 2011 budget of N361.90billion by N21.08 billion or 5.94 percent.
Uduaghan said the 2012 budget is predicated on result oriented strategies.
He said: “Government is moving away from the usual budget practices of mere allocation of figures to a practical, structured, and robust approach that can sustain development.’’
