Stranded passengers as commercial drivers protest in Abuja.
His words: “There was a peaceful protest around Wuse market in the early hours of today (yesterday) by some taxi and bus drivers who were calling for a park around Wuse market where they can park their vehicles to prevent obstructing the highway and possible arrest by the police.
“Senior officers from the FCT Police Command were subsequently dispatched to the scene. No bullet was fired and nobody was shot. Normalcy was immediately restored after dialogue with them and the police.
“A barrow pusher (name withheld) sustained minor injury on his leg while scampering for safety during the pandemonium and is conscious and responding to treatment in government hospital, while dialogue continues between all the drivers union and the Police.
“The FCT Police Commissioner, Mr Michael Zuokumor, has directed a discreet investigation into the incident and findings would be made public.”
