Chime tasks LG bosses on transparency, diligence

By Tony Edike

ENUGU- Governor Sullivan Chime of Enugu State has advised political office holders in local government areas of the state to endeavour to be transparent in their handling of affairs of the councils saying this would help foster confidence and increase support of the people for government.

Chime gave the advice while addressing a rally of Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, supporters at Nkanu East and Nkanu West Local government councils during the party’s campaign tours of the councils in respect of the upcoming local government elections in the state.

He said: “Council leaders should imbibe and practise the philosophy of team work and let the people know what you are doing. You should always carry them along and tell them your plans and actions through consultations”, the Governor advised.

He stressed that Chairmen and councilors of the councils in the state should not see themselves as sole administrators but should understand that they are elected representatives of the people who must consult with all stakeholders in their respective councils in all that they do especially as they affect identification and execution of projects.
