Conference of Nigerian Political Parties, CNPP, has urged the House of Representatives to sanction Mr. Henry Dickson, Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, candidate for Bayelsa State 2012 governorship election, for participating in the party’s primaries in defiance of a court order.
It also commended Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, for obeying the law by boycotting the governorship primaries.
According to the South-West Secretary in Lagos, Mr. Austin Nnorom, such a sanction would forestall indiscipline and restore respect for the House and members.
INEC stayed away from the PDP primaries in compliance with an interim court order of the Federal High Court, Abuja, restraining the party from conducting the primaries.
The judge had ordered PDP to stay action on the primaries, pending determination of the suit filed by Prince Lateef Fagbemi, SAN, on behalf of Governor Timipre Sylva.
