TWO suspected members of a notorious robbery gang that have been terrorizing most parts of Ikorodu area of Lagos State, have been arrested by the police.
The suspects who were identified as Omolodun Seun and Gbenga Kayode, were said to have invaded Ayangburen Road, Ikorodu, where they robbed and dispossessed residents of a building of their valuables, including cash and mobile phones. A police source told Crime Alert that as the robbery operation was going on, an occupant of the building who noticed what was happening, placed a call to the police and they responded swiftly.
The source added that anti-robbery policemen in Ikorodu who arrived the scene in plain clothes, apprehended the robbers unchallenged, recovering one locally- made single barrel shotgun. He said: “After we received a distress call of the robbery operation, our DPO directed us to move in quickly and we did so. We decided to go on mufti so that we won’t raise any suspicion. We took them unaware and they couldn’t challenge us because they knew our fire arms are superior to what they were carrying.”
The command spokesman, Samuel Jinadu, while confirming the report said the suspects are currently helping the police in their investigations, stating that they have made useful statements. Jinadu added that the suspects will be transferred to the State Criminal Investigations Department, Panti, Yaba, Lagos, for further investigation.
