Governor Godswill Akpabio of Akwa Ibom State, weekend, said the national honour of the Commander of the Order of the Niger, CON, to be conferred on him by President Goodluck Jonathan on November 14 would spur him on to greater service for the state and country.
Akpabio made the declaration while fielding questions from newsmen at Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport, Abuja.
He said: “I want to express my appreciation to this country for the various opportunities given to me. It will spur me on to deliver more service to the country. I also want to thank Mr. President for finding me worthy to be so honoured.
“This particular honour is coming despite pernicious propaganda unleashed against me and my government by the opposition who had thought they could blind-fold Nigerians about what was happening in Akwa Ibom State.”
“I was privileged to accompany the President to Australia for the Commonwealth Heads of Government meeting. We had interactions with the global community. We met with Emirates Group and we had very fruitful meetings.
“They have agreed to come and explore the potentials of Akwa Ibom State”
