The Managing Director of Nigerian Airspace Management Agency, NAMA, Engineer Nnamdi Udoh, has said that women engineers on the pay roll of the agency would henceforth be given equal opportunities like their male counterparts in driving the technical needs of its air navigation service.
Receiving top officials of the Association of Professional Women Engineers in Nigeria, APWEN, at the Ikeja, Lagos head office of the agency yesterday, Udoh remarked that most of the knotty engineering problems were better solved by women engineers for their calmness in the midst of tension.
He told the Association, led by its President, Engineer Olayinka Abdul, that NAMA would begin to do things differently by making use of women engineers, saying they would now be exposed to constant trainings and challenges in order to make them more relevant and give them sense of belonging in the scheme of things.
Engineer Felicia Aguabata, in her address, appreciated the effort of the managing director in ensuring the completion of the multi-billion naira Total Radar Coverage of Nigeria, TRACON, project when he served as director of safety electronics and engineering services of the agency.
APWEN is a non-profit, non-governmental, educational service organization and a division of the Nigeria Society of Engineers, NSE.
