Yenagoa -After 15 days in captivity, kidnapped Chief Noble Ewege, deputy Paramount Ruler of Otuokpoti community in Ogbia Local Government Area of Bayelsa State, has regained freedom.

Vanguard learnt that Ewege, who sustained gunshot injuries in the course of his abduction at residence some distance away from mainland Yenagoa, the state capital, was set free Sunday at 7.15pm around the Bonny area of Rivers State. His injuries were said to be getting worse as he was denied medical care.

A source, who pleaded anonymity, said: “The people who went to secure his release, based on the contacts they had with his abductors, had their cell phones seized by the kidnappers immediately they arrived the location where he was handed over.”

The kidnappers, it would be recalled, had used their victim’s mobile phone to establish contact with his wife 48 hours after he was whisked away from his residence and demanded for N50 million ransom before he would be set free.

It could, however, not be confirmed if any money was paid to secure his freedom.
