Jigawa State Government has announced that it requires the sum of over N3.8billion to resourcefully address all the problems it inherited from the past administration.

This revelation was made by the Chairman of the State Universal Basic Education Board, Alhaji Sani Abdullahi. He told Newsmen in Dutse that though, the  state government has expended huge amount of money in construction and renovation of over  1000 classrooms within the last four years, a lot still need to be done.

The SUBEB Chairman explained that within the first four years of Governor Sule Lamido’s administration, over 940 schools were renovated, adding that 500 toilets were constructed within the period and 64,000 three seaters chairs were purchases for schools in the state to be used by about 180.000 pupils on junior secondary schools students.

He added that within the past four years, the board had made impressive impact in structural developments in schools in the state, and disclosed that the board intend to concentrate on developing the quality of education in the state, which he said had also suffered neglect.

His words- ‘ We have realized the need to address the quality of education that obtainable in our schools and identified a number of problems which need to be addressed, part of which is the training of our school teachers’.

According to him 4,160 teachers have been trained by our state schools improvement team (SSIT) who internationally trained resource persons are using our UBE training manuals to get the best result, on the wind storm destruction, he said so far only three major cases were reported to the boards, adding that already the destroyed structures have been repaired at the cost of N2.5million naira.
