National Chairman, Foundation for Ethnic Harmony of Nigeria, FEHN, Mr. Allen Onyema, has called on the 36 state governments to reciprocate Federal Government’s gesture by replicating the amnesty programme in their states to ensure lasting peace in the country.
He said the Federal Government’s amnesty programme was not enough to resolve youth restiveness in the country.
Onyema made the call while condemning the burning of a van belonging to The Nation Newspapers in Bayelsa State, Monday, by suspected former militants. He described the youths as “frustrated.”
Onyema said: “It is highly unfortunate that our youths have resorted to violence to press home their demands.
“Those fighting and resorting to violence are those who feel they should be part of the amnesty programme which has succeeded tremendously.”
