Newly appointed Eagles coach, Stephen Kehsi will have his baptism of fire, when he leads the national team out against Botswana’s Zebras in an international friendly Saturday in Benin City.
Opinion is divided amongst Nigerian fans on his ability to lead the Eagles back to winning ways. However, support has come from far away Ghana. Former Black Stars player Tony Baffoe said the Eagles with Kehi are destined for glory.
Baffoe who like Keshi was a central defender, declared that his former rival at the Senegal’92 Nations Cup has everything it takes to lead the Eagles out of the woods.
Baffoe added that the Nigeria Football Federation made the right choice in picking Keshi shortly after Samson Siasia who was sacked when he failed to secure a ticket to the 2012 Nations Cup.
“Keshi’s appointment is a step in the right direction. He has the experience to steer Nigeria football back to the top where it belongs. We would love to see Nigeria football back at its best just like Ghana is doing.
“Keshi was instrumental to the exposure of many Africa talents to European football including Ghana’s Odartey Lamptey. The NFF has done well to keep faith with former internationals like Daniel Amokachi, Jay Jay Okocha these are icons,”said Baffoe.
