The pervasive feeling inside the Next Movie Star House now is that of uncertainty and stiffer competition. Understandably because days back, four of the contestants were evicted from the popular reality television show which has over the years become the substantive platform through which wannabes are introduced to Nollywood and other entertainment endeavours.
The four evictees are Alexandra Ehigozie, a French graduate of Ambrose Alli University; Delta-state born Goodnews Amar; 23-year-old Oguejiofor Kimberly and Ogunrinola Funmilayo a 400 level Mass Communication student of the Olabisi Onabanjo University.
Coming after they had gone through the gruelling but life-changing training and grooming session that lasted two weeks, and an elaborate welcome party, the evictees broke down and cried inconsolably.
Petite Funmilayo who had become relatively popular in her few days in the house and among television buffs by virtue of her witty and cuddly nature was most inconsolable. Apart from being one of the prettiest and personable among the ladies, Funmilayo had reasoned that she stood a good chance of making it into the finals because of her qualities but she was dropped.
Amid sobs, she says, “I was really looking forward to be among the last three and I thought I was putting in my all. However, I admit that there are equally very awesome talents in the house who have all it takes to rule the acting world. Well, my run in the NMS 2011 is over but in acting, I’m just beginning because I have been well schooled during the two weeks of training and grooming.”
For Goodnews, who was already emerging as one of the clowns in the house, “My eviction came as a rude shock to me. Truth is, for every talent and quality I thought I possessed and figured would see me through to the finals, the other guys had it in abundance.
The competition was just too stiff but I’m leaving the NMS a better, more rounded actor.”
Kimberly and Alexandra shared his sentiments.
