Youths want indigene in NPDC mgt

BY SIMON EBEGBULEM
BENIN CITY—THE Niger Delta Youth Movement, NDYM, Edo State chapter has lamented the alleged non inclusion of an indigene of the state into the managerial team of the Nigeria Petroleum Development Corporation, NPDC, despite the fact that the organisation is located in Benin City, the state capital.

In a statement the state chairman of NDYM, Edun Ogunbor and Secretary, Nosayaba Asemota, said: “We have been sidelined in the entire activities thereby placing the Edo people at a disadvantage position. This action is already generating trouble amongst the youth, who felt cheated, therefore, we want the error to be corrected”.

They appealed to President Goodluck Jonathan and the National Assembly to urgently, “wade into the quandary and field an Edo indigene as part of the management team so as to represent the interest of the Edo people.

We strongly believe that if the interest of Edo people are being represented by an indigene that knows the nooks and crannies of the state, the problem that is obvious as a result of the current setting in NPDC would be solved.”

because projects will be initiated in the state”.
