BY EVELYN USMAN
LAGOS— Pandemonium broke out, Tuesday, in the Alhaji Masha area of Surulere, Lagos, as no fewer than 50 youths  barricaded the road, following the alleged killing of a colleague by some guards, suspected to be members of the outlawed Odua’s Peoples Congress, OPC, Sunday night.

The deceased, whose identity could not be immediately ascertained, was reportedly shot dead by the guards, while another youth shot, is receiving treatment at an undisclosed hospital.

It was learnt that the youths assembled at a popular night club in Oduduwa Street by Kilo bus-stop, Sunday night, when the  guards, who were stationed at a hotel located in the same vicinity, stormed the bar and allegedly attempted to extort fun-seekers. But their attempt reportedly met the stiff resistance of the fun-seekers, a development that led to verbal confrontation.

In the process, two of the guards reportedly rushed to their post and brought their guns, and shot at the fun-seekers.

One of them, who was hit in the mouth, reportedly died on the spot while the second person was hit at the thigh. The gun shot brought activities at the hotel to an abrupt halt as other fun-seekers fled for safety. The aggrieved youths were said to have planned to set the building where the guards were attached on fire but for the swift arrival of policemen from Bode Thomas Division, led by Area ‘C’ Commander, Mr. Mohammed Alli.
