Taribo offers Eagles tips to beat Guinea

By Solomon Nwoke
FORMER Super Eagles defender, Taribo West has given a recipe to the Super Eagles on how to undo the Syli Stars of Guinea in Abuja this weekend to pick the Group B sole ticket to next year’s Nations Cup.

The former AC and Inter Milan defence ace urged the Eagles to explore the weaknesses of their opponents in the last qualifier of the Nations Cup.

West, who is now a full-time pastor believes that Guineans are beatable only if Eagles could put their act together and adhere strictly to the instructions of their Chief Coach, Samson Siasia.

“I think the advice I will chip in is that; they must have respect for their opponents, that is very important. They should look at the weaknesses of the Guinean team which I believe is not too strong in the defence, so we have to have good strikers who are phsically strong and with God’s help they will score more goals. The Eagles should also be cautious in their own defence because they concede a lot of goals.

The Guinean are strong in their attack and as they open their camp today in Abuja, their training programme should be structured to soothe them bearing in mind, the kick off time pegged at 2pm”, he said

Pastor West however expressed strong hope that Eagles would surely over come the Syli Stars on Saturday and going down memory lane, he recalled that in a situation such as the Eagles found themselves they have a way of showing resilience.

He said, “altghough, Eagles are unpredictable these days, we pray that Guinea will fall and Eagles will qualify. It’s my prayer for the team that no matter what happens, Eagles will carry the day and we’ll beat Guinea silly just as their name is Syli.

They have a strong team, but one good thing about Eagles is when they get to this kind of situation, they have a way of flying over and win comfortably and qualify for the Nations Cup. What they need now is to be psychologically ready and this is where the role of a sport psychiologist is needed most”
