Senator flays rejection of passed bills by Executive

Bugged-ABUJA down by the rigours of sponsoring bills to the stage of passing them into law, Senator Bob Effiong Tuesday expressed the frustration and pains of legislators over rejection of passed bills by the executive arm of government.

Senator Effiong, who spoke at the donation of 585 copies of his book, Independence of the Legislature in Nigeria; Matters Arising, to 117 universities across the country in Abuja, said interference of the executive in affairs of the legislature had still not abated.

He said: “Bills passed by the Legislature are often rejected by the Executive. And where they are signed into law, they are hardly implemented.
