As the country celebrates its 51st Independence Anniversary, Cross River State Government in collaboration with all the security agencies in the state have embarked on operation search all vehicles so as to be able to fish out any element with criminal intentions.

Already there have been the presence of security agencies in very sensitive locations in the state ahead of the celebration.

The State Security Adviser, Mr. Rekpene Bassey speaking with Saturday Vanguard in his office said that already security had been beefed up in all the border areas of the state especially the Northern part of the state that shares boundary with Benue state and the Republic of Cameroon.

Mr. Bassey explained that there will be complete checks on public vehicles for identification of their ownerships, their registration particulars and the occupants so as to not leave room to security lapses.

According to him, the best positive way of ensuring security is security intelligence, the ability to obtain information about criminal activities before it takes place, adding that no matter the sophistication of security equipment, it is only through security intelligence that cases of insecurity in the country could be reduced.
