Asaba—DELTA State Deputy Commissioner of Police, Mr. Isyaku Barau, yesterday, said in Asaba that the state Police Command has commen-ced investigation into the explosions that rocked Asaba on Wednesday.
He said the Command was interested in the source of the dynamite used.
Barau said: “We have arrested some people who are helping us to get to the root of the matter. We want to know the source of the dynamite used and investigation has commenced.”
He explained that preliminary investigation showed that the owner of the property where the GSM mast was situated, engaged the services of the men who brought in dynamite because he (landlord) wanted the mast base moved after the mast had been dismantled.
There was pandemonium in Asaba, Wednesday, following explosions on the busy Nnebisi Road, where commercial banks are concentrated.
As a result of the explosions, bankers and customers ran helter-skelter.
