Gusau- The Police have declared Superintendent Ibrahim Bamuche, Chief Security Officer, CSO, to Governor Abdulaziz Yari of Zamfara State, missing.
State Commissioner of Police, Tambari Muhammed, told the News Agency of Nigeria, NAN, in Gusau yesterday that Bamuche left the state for a course in Jos, Plateau State, in September and had not been seen.
He said a telephone call was placed to his handset without a response before a search team was inaugurated to find his whereabouts.
Muhammed said the search team had confirmed that Bamuche’s car was burnt at a spot in Jos, which necessitated the state command to dispatch another search team, led by some squadron leaders.
He said the team, in collaboration with the Plateau Police Command, subsequently exhumed three graves around the spot where Bamuche’s car was burnt, but did not find his body among the three that were discovered.
“As far as the police are concerned, the officer is missing, since we cannot ascertain whether he is dead or alive.”
Commenting on the reported case of rape involving an officer attached to Maradun Police Division, Zamfara, Muhammed said the officer, Ibrahim Abdullahi, had been dismissed after an investigation.
He added that the accused would be charged to court for trial as soon as he was released to the command by the Force Headquarters which investigated him, warning that the command would not condone any act of indiscipline or behaviour that would tarnish the country’s image.
