Former Falcons captain, Florence Omagbami and prolific striker Mercy Akide have teamed up with one aim of returning the Nigerian women team to winning ways.

The Falcons who were once untouchables in the continent were dumped from the All Africa Games and the Olympics 2012 by Ghana and Cameroon respectively and the Nigeria Football Federation may not be renewing the expired contract of coach Uche Eucheria.

Now the former Falcons duo Omagbemi and Akide are positioning themselves to take over with the believe that they can do a better job.

“I am looking forward to working to with Florence, our former captain, to improve the Falcons.

“We are really really looking forward to it because we want Nigerian football to grow.

“We live abroad now and this is what we are doing for a living and helping football here grow why can’t we go back home and help our own team grow?,” Akide stated.
