Arsenal are closely monitoring the progress of VVV-Venlo’s Nigerian youngster Ahmed Musa with a view to a permanent deal in the January transfer window.

The Daily Mail reports that Arsene Wenger’s interest in the player had cooled following Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain’s promising start to life in north London, but Musa’s recent performances have apparently been enough to reigniteArsenal’s attention.

The 19-year-old joined VVV Venlo from Kano Pillars in the summer of 2010 and has since developed into a key player at the Eredivisie minnows.

The winger has scored eight goals in 30 league appearances in the Netherlands and already has 10 international caps to his name.

Musa has a contract with VVV until June 2013 and an offer in the region of €10 million would be needed to lure him away from his current club.
