Journalists storm Benin for constitution review

BENIN—NO fewer than 500 journalists are expected to converge in Benin, Edo State, from October 26 to 28 to review the union’s constitution.

The last constitution review of the union was carried out in October, 2005 at Ilorin, Kwara State.

Chairman, Conference Committee, Mr. Pius Ede in a statement, said the Constitution Review Committee had concluded its assignment after reviewing submissions from the State Councils and individuals.

The statement read: “A draft document has been produced for the attention of delegates to the conference. All the 36 states, including Abuja councils, will elect five delegates who will represent their respective councils, while members of National Executive Council will attend as automatic delegates. Many journa-lists are expected to attend as observers.”

The event will be declared open b y Governor Adams Oshiomhole.

Others dignitaries expected to grace the occasion are the Information, Labour and Productivity ministers and media executives.

The Oba of Benin, Oba Erediauwa, will be the Father of the Day.
