Introduce peace building studies in school curriculum – CRC

By Taye Obateru
Jos—Civil Rights Congress, CRC, has advocated the introduction of peace building studies in the curriculum of post primary institutions in the country to instill the virtues of peaceful co-existence in the youth.

President of the group, Mallam Shehu Sani, made the suggestion in a message to the presentation of a book, The Children of Jos, noting that the negative impressions already imbibed by children as a result of recurrent crises in different parts of the country needed to be corrected.

Represented by his deputy, Mallam Ahmed Suleiman, Sani described children as the most vulnerable and traumatised people during crisis. He said much damage had been done to their psyche and that they have learnt negative and offensive vocabulary.

He promised to make the book available to all schools in Plateau State free of charge, saying, “When children are allowed to reflect on the book in their innocence and neutrality, it will create the fear of God in their minds.”
