BENIN-AHEAD the 2012 governorship election in Edo State, the Chief of Staff to the President, Chief Mike Oghiadohme and the Minister of Works, Mr. Mike Onolemenmen said recently that the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, in the state will present a capable candidate who will terminate the reign of the Action Congress of Nigeria, ACN-led government in the state.
However, ACN in the state through the state chairman of the party, Mr Thomas Okosun, said: “They are jokers because the people of the state have rejected PDP because of the hardship they plunged the people into for over ten years.”
Mr. Onolemenmen spoke at reception organised for him and Chief Oghiadohme, following their appointment by President Goodluck Jonathan.
He said after the party’s congresses in the state, it was clear to the leadership of the party that the task of reclaiming Edo State Government House, which the party lost to the ACN in 2008, was a task that must be accomplished.
He said the darkness that had threatened the party in the past was now turning into a glorious day, adding that the party was beginning to see the light at the end of the tunnel.
He assured the crowd that by July 14, 2012, the party would take over Edo State Government House through the ballot box, adding “we have not experienced transformation in Edo because a PDP administration is not there. It is time to recover what rightfully belongs to us.”
