By OLASUNKANMI AKONI & MONSUR OLOWOOPEJO

As Lagos joins the rest of the nation in celebrating the 51st years independent anniversary today, Governor Babatunde Fashola of Lagos State has called on Nigerians to embrace peace, unity and law to move the nation forward.

Speaking to newsmen after a Special Jumat service at the state Secretariat, Alausa Central Mosque to mark the independence celebration anniversary, Fashola said the nation’s dream and vision would not be realised unless the resources with which the nation is endowed with are distributed fairly across the country, adding that the nation’s wealth will only be put to optimal use if the people are united.

Fashola also appealed to the aggrieved striking workers to always embrace dialogue rather than embarking on continuous strike as means of agitating for their demands. He added that the nation has witnessed too many strikes in the last 12 months, which according to him destroys the productive cycle of the nation.
