Ekiti alleges plans to destabilise state

BY GBENGA ARIYIBI
ADO-EKITI—The Ekiti State Government yesterday raised an alarm over an alleged plan by some unnamed politicians to destabilise the state through the circulation of inciting documents.

The Commissioner for Information and Civic Orientation, Mr.  Funminiyi Afuye,  raised the alarm at a briefing.

Afuye who displayed a copy of the said offensive leaflets, but refused to release same to newsmen for security reasons,  said the government got a copy of the publication through intelligence.

He said the information at government’s possession linked a prominent politician in Ikere Ekiti to the said offensive leaflets.

The commissioner said the government will not be intimidated by  the activities of the opposition, saying the administration is not ready to intimidate them and this gesture should not be abused in the interest of peace in the state.

He said, “We learnt from good authority that the arrowhead and the author of the  leaflets  is resident in Ikere Ekiti and is meant to be circulated across the State to incite the people against the government and sabotage government’s efforts”.

Meanwhile, the government has sent a bill to the State House of Assembly, seeking amendment to the existing Law against quackery and unethical practices by some the private hospitals in the State.

Afuye said the bill was targeted at the private hospitals’ mode of operation, registration, detailing the  liabilities for unethical practices and  employment of qualified personnel for effective health care delivery in the State.
