BENIN CITY—THE Edo Unity League, EUL, a socio-cultural organization in Edo state, weekend faulted the proposed N30 billion identity card project of the Federal government and accused the Federal Government of misunderstanding the priorities of the nation.
The group in a statement signed by its spokes person, Ms Faustina Ogbebor, regretted that rather than make attempt to upgrade the existing identity card data or even probe the executors of the older projects, the Federal Government was contemplating of expending the tax payers money into a venture that may also fail.
It pointed out that “ the resort by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to evade court summons at the Presidential election petition tribunal to tender election materials used for the last election suggests lack of data base for which almost N100billion was expended. The question questionable election data base was executed by President Goodluck Jonathan’s administration.
