LAGOS – A Lagos High Court sitting in Ikeja, yesterday, adjourned till tomorrow, for ruling on the admissibility of some documents against former BankPHB boss, Mr. Francis Atuche, his wife, Elizabeth, and one Ugo Anyanwu, who are standing trial over alleged theft of N3.5 billion belonging to the bank.
Mr Rauf Bello, Head of Compliance at First Registrars, through the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, was about to tender share certificate, collection cheque and statement of share account from the listed company, application form for the share and dividend warrant of the listed company, when the defence counsel objected.
Mr. Tony Idigbe, SAN, objected to the admissibility of the documents, citing relevant sections of the Evidence Act.
EFCC counsel, Mr. Kemi Pinheiro, SAN, urged the court to dismiss the objection by the defence.
Trial judge, Justice Lateefat Okunnu, overruled the defence and asked the witness to proceed with his testimony.
